History

The Local BEST Group Messina was born in late December 2007 when the international BEST association accepted the Sicilian's membership application.
Despite his young age, the group has already distinguished itself for the organization of the Regional Meeting in April 2008 and other events. The turning point came on 9 November when, at the 2008 Presidents' Meeting in Bucharest, the group became officially a BEST member.
From then on, new challenges have been taken, including the organization of the first Spring Course in May 2009 and participation in the development IBEC 2009.

The university

The Local BEST Group Messina is situated inside the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Messina in Contrada Di Dio (S.Agata).

The University of Messina has an ancient cultural tradition and education, dating back to the Thirteenth century. The local Studiorum Universitas was the formally established by Pope Paolo III in November 1548. In the current academic year has approximately 35000 students attending faculty in eleven degree programs that cover the broadest range of subject areas. The University of Messina is divided in four main areas: The Rectorate and five faculties are located in the heart of the city, while the Faculties of Science and Engineering are located in the new Campus Papardo (North area), overlooking the famous Straits of Messina, and includes a canteen and a university high level residence. The Faculty of Engineering is in continuous cooperation with agencies, research centers and technology companiese through national and international projects, and is also one of the most outstanding examples of advanced study in convergence of sound, video and data, as recognized by the prestigious CISCO 2004 award.
The University of Messina , is thus one of the most important cultural realities of Souther italy.
